For many years now, Abco Kovex has supplied many of Ireland’s companies with various types of customised printed strapping.
What type of printed strapping?
Polypropylene Strapping has been used for many years now in this industry. It is used to secure and hold boxes together for shipping throughout the UK and Europe. PP strapping as it would most commonly be known is available for both manual and automatic application.

Who is our customised printed strapping partner?
A company called Sekisui-Jushi makes our printed strapping. The main reason why we use this particular company is their process in manufacturing is very different than many of its competitors. The method is called Gravure.
The Gravure Process
During the production process, a gravure roller is used to print onto the strapping. A layer of polypropylene embosses the strapping. This method is used to have high deep colour printing. Also, the print won’t come off through time due to wear and tear or weather conditions. Abco Kovex printed strapping is available from 9mm. And ink colours available would be dark blue, light blue, green, black and red.
Big volumes make Automation take part
The meat industry would tend to be more automated due to the volume of product being sent out on a daily basis. Abco Kovex doesn’t just supply the strapping we also specialise in manual and automatic machines. We also offer full back up from our engineers and carry a vast range of spare parts giving our customers a piece of mind when ordering machines from us.
How beneficial can customising strapping be?
To conclude, we saw a gap in the market within the meat industry. We found customers were labelling their EC health mark to the box that they were already strapping the product. After research, we found we could print the EC health mark onto the strapping. Thus, this, in turn, meant there was no longer a need for a label. The customer would now be able to make savings due to no longer having to spend on Labels, but also the manual work that was being done putting the name on was no longer needed.
Therefore, we offer printed polypropylene strapping to do the job. After some research and close work with our customers, we decided we could print their EC health mark code. The customer would now be able to make savings due to no longer having to spend on labels. Also, the manual work that was being done putting the label on was no longer needed.
