Abco Kovex scooped this year’s Best Packaging Prevention Initiative Award. The Repak Recycling Award Winners 2013 took place in The Westin, Dublin.

First of all, the award is to promote the optimisation of packaging. Additionally, it has a specific focus on the prevention of excess packaging entering the supply chain.
Secondly, Abco Kovex are a major supplier of packaging materials to the Irish market, won the award for its supply of Stratos stretch wrap. This revolutionary material is the thinnest gauge stretch wrap on the market. Throughout 2012 Stratos was responsible for helping to prevent over 200 tonnes of plastic entering the waste stream. At only 11.4 microns thick the material is remarkably efficient when compared to conventional stretchwrap film, offering a 46% cost reduction and 67% material reduction.
