Working with our friends in the beverage sector, we have seen how slip sheets replacing pallets is happening every day more and more.
Why is this happening?
In the first place, the cost savings are very attractive. Storage is much easier and additional cargo can be shipped. Shipping pallets one-way can be an expensive policy.
In the second place, the Beverage sector, in particular, “spirits”, have embraced this technology. Primarily, they use plastic slip sheets. We enjoy working with some of the biggest whiskey brands in the world.
In the third place, we have seen how in other sectors (such as pharma, chemical, paper hygiene, food and snack) they seem to prefer paper slip sheets. In any case, we see the savings are phenomenal.

Why does this work?
Firstly, you can use an add-on for the forklift. These are attachments, such as a “Cascade E series” or an “ELM Kragelund A/S HPPH-SS”.
Secondly, it is important to state that these are operated pneumatically. The gripper of the attachment grabs the lip of the slip sheet. Subsequently, it pulls the slip sheet with a load onto a steel plate. After this, it pushes the sheet and load into place ready for shipment.
Thirdly, this application allows loads up to 1500kg. Also, it is not unusual to see double stacked packs fill the container. Additionally, they come in lots of 1000 units.
Finally, we have to mention the difference in space of 1000 pallets compared to 1000 slip sheets and the cost of transporting all these.
